GG1180  3 Kershaw Leek Flippers in D2 Steel and Mammoth Ivory

COMMENTS:   I am proud to link my Mammoth expertise to 1 of Kershaw's most well made and versatile knives.  The Kershaw Leek.  The D2 blade holds a fine edge, stays sharp, and is easy to sharpen.  The flip side supports the framelock and a removable/reversible (tip-up or tip-down) pocket clip.  The top half of 3" modified Wharncliffe blade is Sandvik 14C28N fused to a cutting edge of CPM-D2 at 58-60 Rc.  A line of copper separates the two different steels.  All USA made!

COMMENTS:   A modern application of the old "Case Color Hardening" process used in the 1800's to protect the finish of pistols and rifles that also added a distinct color pattern to the metal finish.  Blade is a Damascus twist pattern with a copper and bronze hew. A Nano Ceramic seal was then put on to protect these colors for the life time of the knife.  Nice complex Mammoth bark with heavy crackle lines.  High relief custom leather cross draw sheath is included.

COMMENTS:   This is Blue Mammoth Ivory at its best.  Gorgeous shades of blue, tan, and silver threads run throughout the ivory.  Its a classic example of a Wharncliffe knife with a classic example of a raindrop pattern Damascus.  Rose vine runs from the backbar all the way down the blade giving this knife a nice "flow".  Buttery smooth action and solid lockup ties the whole knife together nicely.

COMMENTS:  Unique use of Buffalo and Elephant Ivory has some saying it reminds them of a Zebra or a Piano or a Hornet.  Screws on the Buffalo have been enameled black and the ivory has  screws plated in 24k gold.  Both sides are a mirror images of each other and as a result they are a perfect "book matched" set of scales.  Truly a one-of-a-kind knife.

COMMENTS:  At 2.1oz this Devil's Tear has a very thin profile and grind. Bolsters reflect well the colors found in the Black Lip scales.  Nice tie in between Thumb bob and MOP found in the backbar. Great "walk and talk" makes this one hard to put down.  Hand plated 28k gold screws adds to the already elegant look.
